Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, in an interview with the YouTube channel PRESSING, stated that Ukrainian drones are effectively blocking Crimea, and in the near future, the peninsula could effectively turn into an island. According to him, this will lead to serious consequences for Russians, although he did not disclose details of future plans.
Isolation of Crimea: strategy and consequences
"Essentially, Crimea is being isolated using drones. And in the near future, it seems, Crimea will turn into an island," Fedorov emphasized. His statement came against the backdrop of a series of successful strikes on key transport arteries connecting the peninsula with the mainland.
Chronology of attacks on bridges
The first strike on the Chonhar Bridge was carried out on June 7. After the attack, traffic across the crossing was resumed in reversible mode. However, on June 9, the bridge was again hit by drones, causing traffic to be completely halted. The occupation authorities recommended using alternative routes through Armenian and Perekop.
The Center for Countering Disinformation stated that after several drone attacks, the Chonhar Bridge was completely destroyed. This became a serious blow to the logistics and supply of the peninsula.
New strikes and infrastructure damage
On the morning of June 10, on the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region, the bridge between Henichesk and the Arabat Spit was blocked. This is already the second important crossing, the movement of which the occupiers have suspended in recent days after strikes on the Chonhar Bridge.
On the night of June 11, explosions were also heard in occupied Crimea. Local public pages reported fires in Simferopol and Sevastopol, as well as damage to bridges on land approaches to the peninsula.
Already on June 13, the occupiers again announced attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on bridges leading to Crimea. According to the Gauleiter Vladimir Saldo, drones struck the bridge between Henichesk and the Arabat Spit. After that, the structure was examined by specialists.
Strategic significance of the isolation of Crimea
A series of strikes on bridges and other transport arteries indicates the systematic work of Ukrainian forces to isolate Crimea. This not only hampers the logistics and supply of the peninsula, but also creates serious problems for the occupation authorities trying to maintain control over the region.
Mykhailo Fedorov's statement about turning Crimea into an island underscores the strategic importance of these actions. The isolation of the peninsula could become a key factor in changing the situation on the peninsula and putting pressure on the occupation forces.
