Within the Ukrainian government, there is discussion of a turning point in the relationship between the head of state and his closest ally. President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Head of the President's Office, Kirill Budanov, whose relations reached a critical point a few weeks ago, have managed to restore working contact following a personal conversation.

According to information obtained from informed sources within the government, the tension between the "number one man" and the "number two man" was so high that a possible rupture of the partnership was discussed. However, a frank conversation allowed both sides to find a constructive format of interaction and ease the tension.

Temperaments and lessons from the past

Interlocutors in the presidential entourage clarify that the conflict was not related to fundamental political disagreements. The main reason was differences in temperaments and the emotional nature of the leaders. When communication was limited and concessions were not made, work became difficult. Now, according to sources, both have managed to take steps towards each other.

The experience of the previous Head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, played an important role in shaping the new working format. The negative aftermath of his era still influences the perception of the office's work. In particular, Zelensky perceives Yermak's constant closeness as a mistake and does not wish to repeat a scenario where the Head of the Office is always right next to the president.

Kirill Budanov, in turn, tries not to go down the same path. His absence from some of the president's trips, which previously raised questions and rumors, is actually a conscious decision. As sources note, the relationship between Zelensky and Budanov is currently absolutely normal, despite external observations.

Stabilization and new challenges

Rumors about Budanov's possible resignation, which circulated in government corridors, proved premature. The Head of the President's Office is currently under no threat, and his position has strengthened following the reconciliation with the head of state.

Parallel to internal processes, Budanov is actively working on the foreign policy front. It was previously reported that he held closed negotiations in Poland regarding issues of historical memory, which became a cause of tension between the countries. Thanks to these efforts, the Ukrainian side managed to prevent the worst-case scenario.

While relations have been restored in the President's Office, the parliament is discussing upcoming plans. The head of the "Servant of the People" faction, David Arakhamia, has already outlined priority tasks for the country for the next six months, indicating a transition to the active phase of implementing strategic goals.
