Vitaliy Dahnovskyi, winger for Chernivtsi-based Bukovyna, has strongly criticized the officiating crew following the match against Polissya. In an exclusive interview with Sport RBC.UA, the football player stated that the referees made several controversial decisions that directly affected the final outcome of the encounter, depriving the Chernivtsi club of well-deserved points.

Controversial Penalty Awarded Against the Chernivtsi Team

The main reason for the player's dissatisfaction was the incident involving a penalty kick awarded to Polissya. According to Dahnovskyi, in the duel between Ihor Krasnopir and Danylo Karas, the rules were initially violated by the opposing player, who grabbed his opponent by the shirt and arm. The winger noted that while the players were indeed battling during the dynamic episode, the fall occurred only after the attacking Polissya player had initiated the contact himself.

The player described this decision as controversial and undeserving of a penalty kick. The team considered such a verdict unfair, especially given how the events on the pitch unfolded during that stretch of the game.

Double Standards in Interpreting Match Episodes

Additionally, Dahnovskyi drew attention to a similar incident near the opponent's goal that the refereeing crew completely ignored. The player recalled the episode involving Oleh Kozhushko and Polissya defender Eduard Sarapiy, stating that the defender clearly held the forward with his hands.

Despite the Bukovyna forward falling following this contact, the referee's whistle remained silent. Dahnovskyi emphasized the contrast in decision-making, noting that similar challenges inside the opponent's penalty area were interpreted completely differently.

Atmosphere in the Locker Room and the Importance of Lost Points

The referees' decisions caused deep disappointment within the Chernivtsi squad. According to the winger, heavy silence filled the locker room after the final whistle as the players barely spoke to each other out of resentment over the dropped result.

The players felt they had turned the tide of a difficult match and were close to victory. Dahnovskyi concluded that the team completely changed the flow of the game on the pitch, but ultimately had two points essentially taken away from them.

Consequences and Future Prospects of the Team in the UPL

Such refereeing scandals invariably draw attention to the quality of officiating in the Ukrainian Premier League and the training level of referees. For Bukovyna, which continues its battle in the elite division and its adaptation to tournament requirements, every point holds strategic importance in the standings.

In his interview, Dahnovskyi also touched upon the differences in working processes between the Chernivtsi club and his former team Veres, and shared details of his adaptation to the top level of Ukrainian football. The players' assessments underline the high level of tension in championship matches.
