The Silpo supermarket chain continues to impress Ukrainians with its thematic concepts, opening a large new store in Odesa on September 25, 2026. Spanning 1,793 square meters, the retail space is entirely dedicated to equestrian sports and the rich history of the local hippodrome, transforming a routine grocery trip into an engaging cultural journey.

Concept and Unique Interior

Project designers paid utmost attention to details to recreate the atmosphere of historical horse races. The main interior palette features natural shades of green, terracotta, and sand, which blend harmoniously together. The main entrance to the supermarket is styled as a real hippodrome starting gate, welcoming visitors with an atmosphere of sporting excitement and anticipation.

Historical References and Art Objects

The store's walls are decorated with unique paintings based on the works of photographer Eadweard Muybridge. He made history through his studies of horse movement, capturing the moment when all four hooves of an animal leave the ground simultaneously during a gallop. A miniature hippodrome track became the central element of the sales floor, featuring horses with jockeys, some equipped with branded Silpo backpacks.

Aviation Past and Finish Zone

Of particular interest is the figure of a horse with a propeller on an airplane—a subtle reference to bold aviation experiments once conducted at the Odesa Hippodrome grounds. The atmosphere is complemented by hanging poles, glowing horseshoes, and crossed whip imagery. At the cash registers, customers are greeted with finish lines and symbolic prizes, concluding this equestrian narrative.
