As a result of a massive Russian attack on July 6, the town of Vishneve in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region suffered colossal destruction. According to Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko, these are the most significant damages to the residential sector since the start of the full-scale war. In response to the situation, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to allocate funds from the reserve fund to provide urgent assistance to the population.

Scale of the Tragedy and Operational Response

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his video address, confirmed that he had discussed the situation in Vishneve with the Prime Minister. The head of state noted that the consequences of the attack are so extensive that the local community's own resources will be insufficient to eliminate them. Therefore, a decision was made to finance housing reconstruction from the reserve fund.

According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, the strike destroyed about five streets and damaged dozens of houses. As a result of the attack, approximately 13 hectares of residential construction were affected. Fires continued in the town, and the threat of secondary detonation remained at the scene. As of 18:50, the number of fatalities in the region reached 8.

Evacuation and Rescue Services Operations

Significant forces were mobilized to eliminate the consequences of the disaster: 500 rescuers from the State Emergency Service (SES) and more than 400 police officers. More than 600 people were evacuated from the town. Special attention was paid to evacuating people from a shelter that ended up in the epicenter of the explosion — 117 people were saved from there.

Help headquarters have been operating in the town since the night. Residents can receive urgent support here, as well as consultations on compensation procedures. The need for operational decisions on reconstruction financing was discussed by Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko directly with the President.

Context of the Attack

On the night of July 6, Russian forces launched a combined attack on Ukraine using missiles and strike drones. The greatest destruction from this strike occurred in Kyiv, the Kyiv region, and specifically in Vishneve. Currently, all government efforts are focused on assisting the victims and launching the process of restoring destroyed infrastructure.
