In the Donetsk region, Ukrainian military forces carried out a successful operation to neutralize infrastructure used by Russian troops for launching drones. As a result of joint actions by units of the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces and the 4th Special Operations Forces Regiment "Rangers", six drone take-off and landing sites were destroyed in the Pokrovsk area.
Attack targets: from shops to destroyed houses
According to data received from the command of the 7th Air Assault Corps, Russian forces actively used civilian and semi-destroyed objects to organize combat sorties. Among the destroyed locations were premises in the area of a city cafe, a children's goods store, a library, as well as a destroyed house in the private sector.
These points served as launch pads for vertical take-off and landing drones, which were used to inflict fire damage on Ukrainian military positions. The enemy paid special attention to attacks on logistical routes supplying forward units.
Tactics and methods of destruction
The detection of targets was the result of detailed analysis of the enemy's actions. After identifying the drone bases, Ukrainian forces delivered precision strikes using fixed-wing attack drones. This approach allowed for minimizing risks to the civilian population and infrastructure while effectively neutralizing the threat.
Context of hostilities
The operation in Pokrovsk takes place against the backdrop of the general dynamics on the front. As previously stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, in May Ukrainian troops liberated 100 square kilometers more territory than they lost. Since the beginning of the year, the total balance of liberated lands has exceeded 600 sq. km.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that June and July could become decisive months in the course of the conflict. According to him, decisions made at the EU, G7, and NATO summits can significantly influence the diplomatic track and the conditions for a possible ceasefire.
Shift in enemy focus
After unsuccessful attempts to break through towards Sloviansk, Russian troops redirected their efforts to other areas of the Donbas. The main goal of the Russian spring-summer offensive campaign has currently become Konstantinovka. This indicates a change in the enemy's strategic priorities and the need for Ukrainian forces to adapt their tactics.
The destruction of drone launch sites in Pokrovsk demonstrates the effectiveness of the reconnaissance-strike work of Ukrainian units and their ability to respond promptly to threats created by the enemy in the rear and on the front.
