Russian forces launched a destructive strike on the capital of Ukraine, completely destroying the dline.ua data center located on Predslavynska Street. This incident has become part of a targeted wave of attacks on critical communications and data storage infrastructure, which has caused severe damage to the country's digital ecosystem over the past few days.
Timeline of Strikes and Scale of Destruction
According to an official statement from the owning company, as of early October, the facility on Predslavynska Street cannot be restored. However, the prompt response of technical services minimized potential data loss: all key services and client data arrays were transferred in advance or on an emergency basis to secure backup sites.
Wave of Attacks on Ukrainian Data Centers
The destruction of dline.ua continues a concerning trend in recent days, during which key nodes of digital infrastructure have come under fire. Previously, other major market players reported similar destruction. Notably, after several consecutive attacks, the Cosmonova data center ceased operations, and on October 1, the Parkovy data center announced a complete halt in activities, stating that restoring services at the base location is impossible.
Security Measures and Government Response
Amid frequent strikes on telecommunication facilities, Ukrainian authorities are taking steps to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure. On September 25, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting, following which additional decisions were made to secure data center complexes and communication systems, emphasizing that this is the personal responsibility of relevant officials and heads of special services.
