The Third Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has received a new commander. As announced at a press conference by the previous head of the formation, Andriy Biletsky, the position has been taken over by Dmytro Rohoziuk, who previously headed the 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade, which was part of the same corps. The personnel change was publicly announced and confirmed by several Ukrainian publications, including RBC-Ukraine and Hromadske.
Dmytro Rohoziuk's Career: From Transport Aviation to Assault Brigades
The military biography of the new corps commander spans over a decade of service. According to available data, Rohoziuk first took part in the defense of Ukraine back in December 2013, when he served in a transport aviation brigade and provided rear support during hostilities in the east of the country. In 2017, he left the army ranks and returned to civilian life. However, following the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, Rohoziuk rejoined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and participated in the defense of Kyiv as part of the Azov Regiment. Subsequently, he commanded a company in the 1st Assault Battalion of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade during the battles for Bakhmut, and later was responsible for operational planning. After the creation of the army corps, Rohoziuk assumed the position of deputy chief of staff.
Transformation of the 60th Brigade: From a 'Problematic' Unit to an Effective Formation
In October 2025, Rohoziuk took charge of the 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade, which at that time, in his own words, was considered «problematic». Within a year under his leadership, the unit evolved into one of the most effective formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. «First of all, we paid attention to changing management approaches: of course, personnel decisions were made, there was a replacement and integration not only of the legal unit into the 3rd Army Corps, but also the adoption of control systems and combat approaches», Rohoziuk recalled regarding the transformation carried out. Notably, the previous commander of the 60th brigade became a suspect in a criminal proceeding regarding embezzlement in the army, which additionally emphasizes the scale of changes carried out by the new leader.
Biletsky in the 'Center' Grouping: Structure of the New Command
Andriy Biletsky, who transferred the command of the Third Army Corps, has headed the «Center» troop grouping, which includes three corps — the 3rd, 11th, and 19th. At the same press conference, Biletsky publicly assessed the work of the commanders of the grouping's two other corps: the 19th Corps is commanded by former Chief of Staff of the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of the Air Assault Forces Valeriy Skred, and the 11th by former Deputy Commander of the 7th Corps Emil Ishkulov. Thus, the personnel reshuffle affected several levels of military command simultaneously.
Context: Deadlines and Operational Situation
Personnel decisions in the upper echelon of command are being made against the backdrop of ongoing hostilities. Recently, Biletsky stated in a public speech that Vladimir Putin has set yet another deadline for the occupation forces to capture the Donbas. The appointment of Rohoziuk, who has gone through a combat path from the defense of Kyiv to the battles for Bakhmut and commanding a mechanized brigade, is viewed as a logical decision to ensure stable command of a large tactical association in the current phase of the conflict.
