On Thursday, June 18, changes in the official exchange rates of major world currencies were recorded in the Ukrainian foreign exchange market. The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) adjusted the quotes: the US dollar strengthened, while the euro showed a slight decline in value.

New official exchange rates

The regulator set the official exchange rate of the US dollar at 44.80 hryvnias. This is 2 kopecks higher than the figure from the previous banking day, when the rate was 44.78 UAH. Thus, after a brief strengthening of the national currency the day before, the American currency returned to growth.

The situation with the euro turned out to be the opposite. The official exchange rate of the European currency decreased slightly to 51.93 hryvnias. Compared to the day before (51.94 UAH), the euro became cheaper by 1 kopeck. Experts note that after several days of fluctuations, the rate corrected downwards.

Rules for canceling currency exchange

In addition to the change in quotes, the National Bank reminded Ukrainians of an important consumer right. Citizens have the opportunity to cancel a currency exchange transaction if they change their mind immediately after conducting the deal.

To exercise this right, two conditions must be met:

  • Go to the same exchange point or bank where the transaction was made.
  • Do this within 15 minutes after the transaction is completed.

In addition, the client must present a receipt or other settlement document confirming the exchange. This rule applies specifically to the reverse currency exchange transaction and is designed to protect consumers from hasty financial decisions.

The legal basis for canceling the transaction is enshrined in the NBU Board Resolution No. 2 "On Approval of the Regulations on Conducting Operations with Foreign Currency Values".
