Ukrainian basketball players continue to demonstrate bright and productive play in prestigious European club tournaments of the current season. The performances of leading Ukrainian legionnaires defending the colors of foreign clubs in the international arena have become the focus of sports experts and fans alike.
Ivan Tkachenko's success in the FIBA Europe Cup
In the second round of the European Cup season, the Latvian club Riga Zelli won a confident victory over the Slovenian team Cedevit with a score of 89:79. One of the main heroes of this confrontation was Ukrainian forward Ivan Tkachenko, who spent about 28 minutes of playing time on the court after entering in the starting five.
The Ukrainian basketball player recorded an impressive double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, five of which came on the offensive glass, demonstrating high dedication under the basket. Additionally, Tkachenko marked himself with one assist and four personal fouls, making a decisive contribution to his club's victory.
Oleksandr Kovliar's bright match and other results
At the same time, Ukraine national team guard Oleksandr Kovliar also appeared in the starting lineup for his team Budućnost in an away match against Turkey's Tofas. Despite the active actions of the Ukrainian player, the Montenegrin club lost in a hard-fought battle to the hosts with a score of 85:90.
Kovliar played 22 minutes on the court, scoring three points, grabbing three rebounds, and giving six assists to his teammates. At the same time, the Ukrainian guard also recorded four turnovers and four fouls. In parallel, in European competitions, Portugal's Benfica under experienced coach Ainars Bagatskis defeated Denizli Basket (96:91) and consolidated its lead in the group.
Contradictory data
It is worth noting that some European and Ukrainian sports reviews show minor discrepancies in estimating playing time and exact turnover statistics of Ukrainian legionnaires. While official protocols of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine record standard indicators of fouls and turnovers, foreign analytical portals sometimes interpret the nature of the fight under the backboards differently, which, however, does not negate the overall high productivity and importance of Ukrainian players for their clubs.
