Ukrainian forward Artem Dovbyk will continue his career at Bologna. The clubs have agreed on the transfer of the 29-year-old striker on loan until the end of the 2026/27 season. This was reported by Sport RBC.UA citing an official source from Bologna on the social network X.
The deal linked to Santiago Castro
The Ukrainian's move to Bologna is directly linked to the Romans' transfer plans. Roma agreed to Dovbyk's departure only after reaching an agreement on the transfer of Argentine forward Santiago Castro. Thus, the "wolves" updated their squad, and Dovbyk got the opportunity to continue playing in Serie A for another club.
Search for playing time
For the striker himself, this step will be a chance to regain form and get more playing time. In the Italian capital, his performances did not always go well: the forward faced injuries and personnel changes in the team. During his time at Roma, the Ukrainian played 63 matches in all tournaments and scored 20 goals.
The path from Cherkasy to Italy
Dovbyk is a product of Cherkasy football. His professional path went through "Dnipro", Moldovan "Zaria" from Bălți, Danish "Midtjylland", "Senneryusk" and "Dnipro-1". The turning point in his career was the summer of 2023, when he moved to Spanish "Girona".
It was in Spain that the striker showed himself at the highest level. In the 2023/24 season, he became the top scorer of La Liga, helped "Girona" qualify for the Champions League for the first time in history, and was recognized as one of the best strikers of the championship. In August 2024, Roma signed Dovbyk, after which he made his debut in Serie A.
Role at Bologna
In the 2025/26 season, Bologna confirmed its status as one of the strongest clubs in Serie A, finishing in 8th place and fighting for European spots. In the new season, the "rossoblu" will also compete on the European stage, so the club needed to strengthen the attack line. Artem Dovbyk is considered one of the key players at Bologna, who should help the team in the Italian championship and European cups.
At the moment, the forward is one of the leaders of the Ukrainian national team, for which he has been regularly playing since 2021.
