Ahead of Halloween on October 29, British brand Dr. Martens introduced a capsule collection inspired by William Friedkin's classic horror film The Exorcist (1973). Familiar footwear silhouettes feature a portrait of the possessed Regan MacNeil, movie quotes, and deep purple shades, turning the iconic models into true pop-culture objects. The capsule was created in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products and includes three pairs of shoes, a backpack, and jacquard socks.
Possessed Regan on the Shaft: 1460 Boots
The centerpiece of the collection is the classic 1460 boot, crafted in a black-and-purple smooth leather colorway. The shaft displays a large image of the possessed Regan MacNeil, one of the most recognizable faces in cinema history. The brand's signature yellow welt stitching remains, acting as a contrasting accent against the dark background. The rear of the boots and an extra pair of laces feature the inscription 'FAITHLESS SLIME', a reference to one of the movie's key scenes where Regan speaks these words.
'I'm Not Regan': Understated 1461 and Bold Jadon
The 1461 shoes feature a more understated design: black leather adorned with a brown-tinted embossed engraving of the phrase 'I'M NOT REGAN'. The laces are secured with a metallic charm bearing the film's title. Conversely, the Jadon platform boots are designed for maximum expression with glossy purple Arcadia leather, a chunky platform, and the phrase 'I'M NOT REGAN' embossed across the entire upper. A special zipper and decorative lace hardware complete the look.
Accessories: Father Merrin Backpack and Themed Insoles
The collection is rounded out by a black leather backpack featuring the silhouette of Father Merrin—the priest performing the exorcism—and jacquard socks with purple 'I'M NOT REGAN' lettering. The movie logo is embossed on the backpack's top carry handle, while demonic graphics are hidden between the shoulder straps on the back. Horror references also extend inside the footwear, with custom-designed insoles themed after The Exorcist across all three models.
