On the night of October 15, 2026, Kyiv was subjected to a massive attack by Russian drones, resulting in a private residential house catching fire in the capital's Shevchenkivskyi district. According to information published by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko on his Telegram channel, drone debris fell into the yard of a private estate, causing a fire on the ground floor of the building. Klitschko stated that emergency services were dispatched to the scene. Since the morning of Thursday, October 15, powerful explosions were recorded in Kyiv during the air raid alert, and the capital was under continuous attack by Russian unmanned aerial vehicles.

Drone Movement Trajectory and Impact Zones

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, jet drones were recorded in the skies over the capital after 22:00. Their movement was tracked in the Nyvky area, the Solomianskyi district, and the Minskyi massif, after which the drones headed toward the city center—to Pechersk, where falling debris was also discovered. In addition to the central part of Kyiv, UAV activity was recorded in suburban settlements as well: in Zhuliany and Boiarka. Thus, the attack covered virtually all approaches to the capital, indicating the scale and coordinated nature of the strike operation.

Damage to Energy Facilities and Water Supply Disruptions

On the evening of October 15, Russian forces launched a strike on a critical energy infrastructure facility in the Kyiv region. As a result, emergency power outages occurred in several districts of the capital and the region. Klitschko additionally reported a drop in water pressure in the water supply system of the right-bank part of Kyiv. The Holosiivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts were affected. According to city authorities, the cause was damage to energy facilities, which forced specialists to switch power at water supply stations, temporarily lowering the pressure in the networks.

Context: A Series of Strikes on the Capital

The attack on October 15 was a continuation of a series of strikes on Kyiv. The day before, on October 14, one person was killed in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital as a result of a ballistic missile attack. Thus, over the course of two days, Kyiv experienced both missile and drone impacts accompanied by the destruction of residential buildings and critical infrastructure. Emergency services continue their work at the incident sites, and municipal utility companies are working to restore power and water supply in the affected areas.
