On the night of June 14, Russian territory was subjected to a massive drone attack. One of the key targets was the "SpetsTorg Plus" oil depot in the city of Rybinsk, located in close proximity to the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery.
Alarm signal and governor's warning
Events unfolded rapidly. At 05:00 on Sunday morning, Yaroslavl Region Governor Mikhail Yevraev published an urgent appeal to the region's residents, warning of the drone threat. The official urged citizens to remain calm but strictly adhere to safety measures. In particular, he recommended that people on the street immediately leave open spaces and take shelter in the nearest buildings.
For those inside buildings, clear instructions were given: cover windows with thick fabric or lower blinds, move away from window openings to a safe distance, and relocate to rooms without windows. This warning was issued shortly before the strikes on the facility were carried out.
Consequences of the strike and air defense operations
Despite the intensive work of the Russian air defense system in the Yaroslavl region, drones managed to breach the defenses and launch an attack. Videos from eyewitnesses began to appear on social media and public channels. The footage clearly shows a powerful fire and huge columns of smoke rising high into the sky.
In connection with the incident and the fire at the facility, Governor Yevraev reported the closure of the exit from Yaroslavl towards Moscow. This traffic restriction affected one of the region's key transport arteries.
Strategic importance of the facility
The "SpetsTorg Plus" oil depot is a critical infrastructure object. It has tanks with a total volume of more than 300,000 cubic meters. Due to its role in ensuring the energy supply of the Russian Federation and logistics chains for the army, the facility has regularly become a target for Ukrainian drones. Especially active attacks were recorded in the spring and early summer of 2026.
Scale of the night operation
The attack on Rybinsk was not the only one that night. According to sources, strikes were delivered along the entire front line and deep into the territory. There were reports of damage to a chemical plant in Novomoskovsk, as well as strikes on the railway infrastructure of the Smolensk region and the occupied city of Ilovaisk in the Donetsk region.
The "Azot" chemical plant in Novomoskovsk is also not the first time to become a target for drones. Like the oil depot in Rybinsk, this enterprise plays an important role in the aggressor's economy and meeting the needs of the army, making it a priority target for retaliatory strikes.
