The situation on the front lines requires flexibility and speed. In response to requests from units, Ukraine has launched a new system that allows the military to independently configure drone characteristics even at the ordering stage. The project is implemented based on the DOT-Chain Defence weapons marketplace.
This was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The innovation aims to solve the problem where standard equipment models do not always fit the specific tasks of a particular front-line sector.
Adaptation to Combat Tasks
The essence of the new function lies in the ability to select modifications of the device directly when placing an order. A military specialist can adapt the drone to a specific combat task without waiting for the equipment to reach the workshop.
Arsen Zhumadilov, Director of the DOT Defense Procurement Agency, noted that the «drone constructor» appeared as a direct response to requests from the military, with whom the agency maintains constant contact.
«The new functionality allows adapting drones even at the ordering stage – with just a few clicks», — he emphasized.
How the System Works
The ordering process now looks as follows: a unit representative gains access to a catalog where they can see all available modifications of the device. Each product has its own line of modifications, depending on the capabilities of the specific manufacturer.
After confirming the order, the modified drone is sent directly to the brigade. The Defense Procurement Agency takes control of logistics and makes payment only upon actual delivery of the goods.
Efficiency and Workshop Relief
Implementing this system will significantly reduce the load on drone workshops within units. Instead of modifying equipment «on-site», the military receives a device that is ready for use «out of the box» specifically for their front-line sector.
This solution will also accelerate the implementation and scaling of innovations, as manufacturers will be able to respond quickly to front-line needs through the digital platform.
Context of Technological Development
The development of unmanned technology in Ukraine is not limited to order customization alone. Earlier, it was reported that BlueBird Tech was developing a new drone detector called «Chuyka 4.0». The device is equipped with an additional module capable of scanning space at a new frequency range.
Furthermore, a unique DART missile has been created in the country, which is launched directly from stratospheric balloons. The main feature of this development is its complete resistance to enemy electronic warfare means.
