The night sky over the Rostov region witnessed a large-scale operation that demonstrated the growing effectiveness of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces. On the night of May 30, the 'Birds' strike group delivered a devastating blow to the military airfield in Taganrog, destroying critical elements of Russian military infrastructure.
Strategic Strike on Aviation and Missiles
The results of the night attack were impressive. According to Robert 'Madjar' Brovdi, Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, two strategic Tu-142 aircraft and an Iskander operational-tactical missile system were targeted. The destruction of the Tu-142s, which are based on the strategic bomber platform and used for anti-submarine reconnaissance, deals a serious blow to Russia's air defense and reconnaissance capabilities in the Black Sea region.
The elimination of the Iskander missile system is of particular significance. This complex, capable of delivering high-precision strikes on targets at significant distances, was hit directly on its launch site in the outskirts of the city. This deprives the enemy of the ability to use it for missile shelling in the near future.
A 'Courtesy Visit' and the Aftermath
The Unmanned Systems Forces command characterized the operation as a 'courtesy visit,' however, the consequences of the strike went far beyond the stated goals. In a message by 'Madjar,' it was mentioned that 'it was smoking by the water too,' indirectly confirming strikes on port infrastructure or ships in the waters of the Taganrog Bay. Official video confirmation is promised to be published later.
Chronicle of the Night Alarm
The attack began around 1:00 AM and continued until dawn. Local residents of Taganrog reported continuous explosions and alarms on social media. After 03:45, footage capturing the aftermath of the strikes near the aircraft factory and the bay began to appear online. Simultaneously, attacks on fuel infrastructure were recorded across Russia: tankers and oil depots were hit in other regions, indicating the coordinated nature of the Ukrainian drone operations.
