On the Pokrovsk direction, where fierce fighting continues, Ukrainian defenders have demonstrated an example of high tactical proficiency and creativity. Fighters from the 'Skeli' regiment managed to capture a Russian serviceman during a unique operation, utilizing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to do so.
As reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing video footage of the operation, the capture of prisoners was the result of hours of work by drone operators. First, the pilots spotted the enemy, and then they monitored him for an extended period, completely controlling his movements.
Psychological attack from the air
When the moment for capture matured, Ukrainian military personnel applied a non-standard approach. A loudspeaker was installed on one of the DJI drones, through which operators addressed the Russian soldier in his native language.
“Russian soldier, surrender, everything will be fine with you” — this was the message broadcast by the drone. This psychological attack worked flawlessly. After the command was transmitted, the drone crews literally guided the occupant, coordinating every step he took.
Safety control and capture
During the movement, operators noticed objects in the Russian soldier's hands that could pose a threat. He was immediately ordered to throw them away. The Russian serviceman unconditionally fulfilled all requirements: he demonstrated the absence of weapons on the drone camera and moved in the indicated direction.
At the final point of the route, another group of 'Skeli' fighters was waiting for him; they were in an ambush and safely took the prisoner into custody.
Strategic significance of the operation
The regiment's command emphasizes that such operations are of critical importance for conducting hostilities for two main reasons:
- Intelligence value: Capturing prisoners allows for obtaining current information about the enemy's forces, deployment, and plans on the hottest sections of the front.
- Prisoner exchange: Every captured fighter significantly replenishes the exchange fund. This directly affects the chances of Ukrainian defenders returning home during future exchanges.
