On Tuesday, June 16, Dynamo Kyiv will officially kick off the 2026/27 European season. In Nyon, Switzerland, at the UEFA headquarters, the draw for the first qualifying round of the Europa League will take place. As the holder of the Ukrainian Cup and a seeded team, Dynamo will determine its opponent from the pot of unseeded clubs.

Opponents and Schedule

Twelve teams will participate in the first qualifying round. For the Kyivians, these matches will be the first official games of the new football season. The first legs are scheduled for July 9, with the second legs on July 16.

Due to the security situation, the "white-and-blues" will play their nominally home matches in the Polish city of Lublin. This decision allows the team to maintain the home-and-away format but under safe conditions.

The Path to the League Phase

To reach the revamped League Phase of the Europa League, the Ukrainian team must pass through four qualifying rounds. However, Dynamo has a safety net: in the event of failure at any stage of the Europa League qualifiers, the Kyivians will automatically drop into the Conference League.

The draw for the second qualifying round will take place on June 17, the day after the opponents for the first round are determined.

Draw Pots

Teams are divided into two pots. In the seeded pot, alongside Dynamo, are:

  • Hungary's Ferencváros;
  • Azerbaijan's Qarabag;
  • Moldova's Sheriff;
  • Croatia's Hajduk;
  • Bulgaria's CSKA Sofia.

Consequently, Dynamo's opponent will be one of the six unseeded clubs determined during the draw.

Broadcast and Final

The ceremonial draw will begin at 18:00 Kyiv time. A live video broadcast is available on the official UEFA website.

The final of the current Europa League season will take place on May 26, 2027, in Germany — at the famous Waldstadion in Frankfurt.
