Kyiv's Dynamo has officially announced the extension of cooperation with midfielder Mykola Mykhailenko, who is a product of the club's academy. The parties have signed a new long-term agreement, securing the club's intent to retain the key player amid personnel changes within the team.

The Academy Graduate's Path to the First Team

Mykola Mykhailenko went through the entire vertical of the Dynamo system, playing in youth leagues, captaining the youth squad, and representing the reserve team. To gain adult football experience, the midfielder was sent on loan to Chornomorets Odesa, Zorya Luhansk, and Oleksandria. The player's official debut for the Dynamo first team took place on August 17, 2024, in a match against Karpaty Lviv.

Performance Statistics and Won Trophies

Since his debut for the senior squad, Mykhailenko has firmly established himself in the Kyiv team, making a total of 70 official appearances. The midfielder has scored four goals and provided three assists. During his time at the highest level, he has helped his boyhood club win two national trophies: the Ukrainian Premier League championship in the 2024/25 season and the Ukrainian Cup in the 2025/26 season. This season, the midfielder has participated in seven matches.

International Experience and Player Prospects

Successful performances at the club level earned the midfielder a call-up to the national team of Ukraine. In 2025, Mykhailenko played two matches for the blue-and-yellows during an international friendly tournament against Canada and New Zealand. The player's previous contract was set to expire at the end of the current championship, but the club management decided to secure rights to the player in advance with a long-term deal.

Significance of the Contract Extension for the Team

Retaining a player like Mykhailenko highlights the coaching staff's reliance on club academy graduates and proven performers. In the conditions of fierce competition in Ukrainian football, squad stability is crucial for fighting for domestic trophies and performing successfully on the international stage. The long-term agreement allows the player to focus on training and progress, while the club can count on a reliable central midfielder moving forward.
