The era of endless waiting in queues at post offices in Ukraine is coming to an end. "Ukrposhta" is implementing a revolutionary parcel delivery system that allows customers to pick up shipments independently, bypassing the operator. This is not just process optimization, but a fundamental change in the user experience aimed at saving the most valuable resource — time.
Fast Delivery System: How It Works
The essence of the innovation is simple and effective. After the shipment arrives, the customer receives an SMS notification with a unique access code. Instead of standing in a general queue, the person approaches a special terminal (locker) inside the branch, enters the code, and picks up the parcel. The entire process takes just a few seconds.
It is important to understand the difference between the new system and familiar parcel lockers. While parcel lockers are autonomous devices on the street available 24/7, the new lockers are integrated directly into the interior of the branches. This means they can be used during the post office's working hours, but without depending on the operators' workload.
Implementation Scale and Current Status
The company did not delay the launch. In the first stage, the system will be deployed in 400 branches across the country. The pilot project has already successfully launched in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, where the first 120 fast delivery lockers have been installed. General Director Ihor Smelyansky confirmed that separating customer flows is a strategic task that is already showing results: receiving a parcel without a queue has become a reality.
Context of Digital Transformation
The launch of lockers is just part of the large-scale modernization of "Ukrposhta". Previously, the company automated sorting processes, creating infrastructure to process up to 3 million shipments per day. Now the focus has shifted to the final stage — interaction with the customer.
Alongside this, the first 70 parcel lockers are already operating in the capital, and by the end of the year, their network is planned to expand across Ukraine. Additionally, the postal operator has updated its tariff grid, offering document delivery services at reduced prices, making the service even more accessible to the population.
