Massive emergency power outages have been recorded in Sumy and the Sumy district. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine citing representatives of JSC "Sumyoblenergo". The company confirmed the incident, stating that emergency crews have already begun restoring power supply to consumers.
Situation in the region
Despite active restoration efforts, energy workers have not yet disclosed the exact cause of the failure. The report also lacks information on the number of subscribers currently left without electricity. However, experts and industry representatives do not rule out that the cause was ongoing attacks on infrastructure.
In recent weeks, the Sumy region has been in a zone of particular risk. According to "Ukrenergo", the situation with power supply remains most complex here. This is due to constant strikes on energy facilities in the region and the cumulative effect of previous attacks, which caused serious damage to the networks.
Scale of the problem
The problem is not limited to Sumy alone. "Ukrenergo" reported that as a result of enemy shelling, new blackouts were recorded in the morning in the Poltava, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, and Mykolaiv regions. Damage to equipment requiring immediate specialist intervention is being recorded everywhere.
The company emphasized that where safety conditions allow, emergency restoration work is already underway. Energy workers are doing everything possible to return damaged equipment to service as quickly as possible and restore the normal functioning of the power system.
Factors of instability
In addition to military actions, the weather situation also affects the situation. Recently, emergency outages were introduced in the Poltava region due to bad weather: about three thousand consumers in four communities were left without electricity. During the same period, power supply problems due to attacks were recorded in six other regions of Ukraine.
