In Slavyansk, Donetsk region, Russian military equipment attacked civilian infrastructure. Midday, an FPV drone struck a parked fuel truck on the premises of an operating gas station.
Scale of the fire and explosion risk
According to the State Emergency Service (SES), the direct hit by the drone caused a powerful fire on the vehicle. Flammable liquid spilled onto the surrounding area, creating a real threat of a large-scale explosion and the spread of fire to neighboring facilities.
The situation at the scene was critical: flames and thick black smoke were visible from a significant distance. However, the rapid arrival of rescue units allowed the situation to be brought under control.
Rescuers' work and consequences
Fire brigades that arrived at the scene quickly contained the fire. Thanks to the coordinated actions of the specialists, it was possible to stop the spread of the fire and prevent further fuel spillage. Fortunately, there were no casualties as a result of the incident.
Rise in attacks on fuel infrastructure
The incident in Slavyansk is part of a worrying trend in recent days. Russian occupying forces are increasingly choosing gas stations as targets for their air attacks, striking civilian infrastructure in frontline regions.
In particular, just a few days ago, on July 9, a similar attack occurred in Zaporizhzhia. There, a drone hit a gas station, causing a fire in which one man was injured. Another case was recorded on July 8 in Kharkiv, where a double drone strike on a gas station also led to a fire and the injury of one civilian.
Authorities' recommendations
In light of the increase in targeted shelling of fuel facilities, city authorities are calling on residents to exercise maximum caution. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov previously stated that the enemy is intentionally making gas stations targets and recommended that citizens plan to refuel their vehicles only during periods when there is no air raid alert.
