On the morning of June 5, an explosion occurred at the sorting center of a postal operator in the Obolon district of Kyiv. The incident happened during the inspection of one of the packages, leading to tragic consequences for the terminal employees.

Casualties and Injured

According to the Kyiv Police press service, a 59-year-old man died as a result of the explosion. Two other employees, aged 37 and 41, were injured and taken to medical facilities. At the scene, an investigative and operational group, bomb disposal experts from the capital's police, SES rescuers, and medical personnel are working.

Context of Attacks on Postal Infrastructure

This is not the first attack on postal service facilities in Ukraine. In recent days, Russian forces have intensified strikes on branches and terminals of "Nova Poshta." For instance, on June 4, the company's innovative terminal in Dnipro was attacked. According to the operator, all employees were in shelters at the time of the strike, so there were no casualties.

On the afternoon of May 31, a drone completely destroyed a "Nova Poshta" branch in Dnipro — the building burned down to the ground. On the same day, an enemy drone damaged branch No. 1 in Sloviansk, Donetsk region.

Response and Investigation

Investigators have already begun working to establish the circumstances of the explosion. Preliminarily, it is believed that an explosive device was hidden in one of the packages that terminal employees were inspecting. The police urge citizens to be vigilant when receiving suspicious mailings and to report any discrepancies in address data or the appearance of the packaging.
