On the evening of October 30, an explosion occurred in an apartment of a multi-storey residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to an official statement by the Kyiv Police on Telegram. Law enforcement officers are clarifying the circumstances of the emergency that took place in the residential sector of the capital.
What is known about the explosion in the residential building
According to preliminary data, the explosion occurred directly inside a high-rise apartment. The incident affected not only the premises but also the adjacent area: as a result of the event, the windows of a city bus that was at the final stop near the building at the time of the explosion were damaged. Thus, the consequences of the explosion went beyond the residential building and affected public transport.
Consequences and situation at the scene
The Kyiv Police emphasized that no fires broke out as a result of the incident, and there are no casualties among the residents of the building or bystanders. Despite the absence of human casualties, the explosion caused material damage: in addition to the apartment, a transport facility at the bus stop was damaged. Law enforcement officers and an investigative-operational group are working at the scene to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
Investigation progress
Kyiv Police are investigating the causes and circumstances of the explosion in the residential building of the Shevchenkivskyi district. The investigative-operational group is carrying out necessary measures on site to determine what exactly caused the explosion in the apartment. Official data on the causes of the incident were not reported at the time of publication.
Context: similar incidents in Ukraine
This incident is not the only such occurrence in the country. Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that on October 14, an electric car exploded in the Pecherskyi district of Kyiv, resulting in injuries to the driver. In addition, on July 28, a car belonging to a military serviceman exploded in Odesa; a 49-year-old crossover driver was injured at that time. These cases form the context of a series of incidents involving explosions of vehicles and objects in Ukrainian cities.
