On June 12, a powerful explosion occurred in the settlement of Shchapovo in New Moscow. The incident took place at the private residence of Andriy Pinchuk — former head of the so-called "Ministry of State Security of the DNR" and a colonel of the FSB. According to Russian media reports, the explosion was caused by a bomb-laden package delivered by a courier.

Incident Details

According to TASS, a courier delivered a package to Pinchuk's home, after which the explosion occurred. Photos from the scene clearly show a vehicle with the logo of the "Ozon" marketplace, indicating a possible delivery channel for the dangerous cargo.

Andriy Pinchuk stated that he managed to hide behind a bulletproof door and suffered only a mild concussion. His family was in another building at the time of the explosion. However, the VChK-OGPU Telegram channel reported his hospitalization, which requires further clarification.

Who is Andriy Pinchuk?

Andriy Pinchuk is one of the key participants in Russia's aggression against Ukraine. From July 2014 to March 2015, he headed the "Ministry of State Security of the DNR" — a terrorist group in occupied Donbas. Notably, he took up the post of "minister" on July 17, 2014 — the day the Malaysian Boeing MH17 was shot down over the Donetsk region.

Previously, Pinchuk participated in the annexation of Crimea and moved to occupied Donetsk. In 2022, he commanded the "Center" unit of occupiers during the fighting for Izyum, and in 2023–2025, he commanded the BARS-13 unit in the battles for Bakhmut and Chasiv Yar.

Context: Series of Explosions in Russia

The assassination attempt on Pinchuk has become the third major incident in just a few days. On June 9, a car exploded in the Moscow region — the deceased is identified as a Lieutenant General of the Russian Army. The explosion occurred 400 meters from the place where another general was killed a year ago. On the same day, another car exploded in southwest Moscow.

These events raise serious questions about the security of high-ranking representatives of Russian security structures and a possible retaliatory response to their actions on Ukrainian territory.
