Explosion in the center of Rylsk: car with administration officials blown up by a mine

The morning in the town of Rylsk in the Kursk region began with a tragedy. In the center of the settlement, a car carrying employees of the local district administration was blown up. The incident occurred on a remotely triggered mine.

Governor of the Kursk region Alexander Khinshstein reported on the incident. According to him, this was a planned operation directed against representatives of the authorities. The explosive device was activated remotely, leading to serious consequences for those in the car and nearby.

Condition of the injured officials

Among the injured was the head of the Rylsky district, Vladimir Kovalchuk. He sustained a blast injury, as well as blind shrapnel wounds to his legs. The director of the economic services department, Sergey Besedin, was driving the car at the time of the explosion. He was diagnosed with an abdominal wound, and his thigh was damaged by debris.

In addition to those in the car, two other people were injured. The head of the culture department and a specialist from the civil defense and emergency department were standing on the porch of the building at the time of the explosion. From the powerful shockwave, they suffered acoustic trauma and blind shrapnel wounds to their hands and legs. All injured were taken to the Rylsk hospital for medical assistance.

Demining work and investigation

Currently, deminers are working at the scene. They are conducting demining of the area and assessing the situation. Governor Khinshstein did not report who is suspected of organizing the explosion, but emphasized that the incident requires a thorough investigation.

Photos of the triggered mines were published in the governor's Telegram channel. The photos show that the explosive devices were installed near the road, making them particularly dangerous for passing vehicles.

This incident is another reminder of the tense situation in the border regions of Russia. At the same time, as sources report, the Russian army in Crimea is actively preparing for a landing of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, while Ukraine continues to strike the largest oil refineries on Russian territory.
