Context: Recent incidents involving explosives

The incident in Vinnytsia is not an isolated case in the context of recent events in Ukraine. At the end of May, a high-profile incident occurred in a school in the same city: a training grenade exploded during a lesson. A dangerous object was brought into the classroom by one of the eighth graders; the detonation occurred when his classmates picked up the device.

Another high-profile case occurred in early June in Dnipro. There, a man who was being detained by the police detonated a grenade. Law enforcement officers arrived in response to a call regarding a fight, during which one of the offenders threw the explosive towards the patrol officers. As a result, the perpetrator died at the scene, and four police officers were injured.
