On the afternoon of July 5, explosions were heard in Chernihiv. The city came under attack by enemy rocket drones. According to RBC-Ukraine, citing the Telegram channel of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, air defense forces are actively engaging aerial targets, attempting to intercept the threat over the populated area.
A correspondent from the agency at the scene confirmed the fact of explosions. At the same time, the Air Force of Ukraine issued a warning about a group of rocket drones over Chernihiv. The situation remains tense as air defense systems continue to repel the strike.
Scale of the Night Attack on Ukraine
The attack on Chernihiv occurred against the backdrop of an ongoing series of massive strikes on Ukrainian territory. On the night of July 5, Russia launched one Kh-31 anti-radiation missile, three Kh-59/69 air-to-surface missiles, and 125 attack drones at the country. According to Ukrainian authorities, air defense forces managed to shoot down most of the enemy targets, although reports of hits are still coming in.
This is not the only attack in the last 24 hours. On the night of July 4, Russia struck with an Iskander-M ballistic missile, an Kh-59/69 air-to-surface missile, and 86 drones. During this raid, Ukrainian defense shot down 69 enemy targets.
Strikes on Zaporizhzhia
Late Saturday evening, July 4, Russian forces launched a series of strikes on Zaporizhzhia. As a result of the shelling, a multi-story building was damaged, as well as critical city infrastructure. Authorities confirm there are casualties as a result of these attacks.
