On the night of June 26, powerful explosions were heard across Ukraine. Kremenchuk and Poltava came under the strike of Russian aggression. Enemy forces employed a combined tactic, using both ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Events unfolded rapidly. Around 00:50, air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv and most regions of the country. The military promptly warned of the threat of ballistic missiles coming from the northeast. Soon, the air defense system detected two missiles heading towards Kremenchuk.
Parallel to the missile threat, local residents and emergency alert channels reported loud explosions. The city was attacked not only by ballistic missiles but also by strike drones. The fact of the attack by the Russian Federation was officially confirmed by the Poltava Regional Military Administration.
Vitaliy Diakovenko, Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, published a message on Telegram urging citizens to exercise maximum caution: "Kremenchuk is under enemy attack. Stay in shelters until the air raid is lifted".

Explosions were also heard in Poltava around 01:02. While the exact cause of these sounds has not yet been established, the military continues to record the activity of Russian drones over the Poltava region. The situation remains tense, and air defense forces continue to repel threats.
Strategy of strikes on infrastructure
This attack fits into the general picture of the war against the Ukrainian economy. Back in March, Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that Russia is trying to destroy Ukrainian oil refining with thousands of missiles and drones. According to him, 60 missiles and about 260 unmanned aerial vehicles were fired solely at the Kremenchuk Refinery.
Recent history confirms that Kremenchuk remains a priority target. On the night of May 14, the Russians launched another combined strike, resulting in damage to energy facilities, industrial enterprises, warehouses, and even the city's housing sector.
