Russian authorities officially stated that a massive drone attack occurred, blaming Ukraine for the incident. Part of Gazprom, the complex is considered the world's largest gas chemical enterprise. Its capacity is approximately 37.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year, with raw materials sourced from one of Europe's largest fields.
The plant performs a unique function: it is the only producer of natural odorant in Russia — a substance added to gas to give it a distinct smell for leak detection. Furthermore, the enterprise plays a key role in the KazRosGaz international project, processing gas from the Karachaganak field in Kazakhstan.
