Law enforcement agencies in the Odesa region have stopped the activities of a medical worker who offered citizens fake diagnoses to obtain disability status and subsequently evade military service. The focus of the investigation is the head of the therapeutic department at one of the multi-profile hospitals in the Podilskyi district.

According to available data, the incident occurred in June 2026. A 28-year-old man in need of medical services approached the doctor. Instead of providing real assistance, the specialist offered him a dubious scheme: for a monetary reward, she was ready to forge documents confirming the presence of an illness, which in the future was to become the basis for assigning a disability group.

The main goal of such manipulations was to avoid mobilization. The cost of the "services" to forge a diagnosis amounted to 1,000 US dollars. However, as it turned out, the head of the department did not act alone. Her acquaintances were involved in the scheme, who probably helped in organizing the process or acted as intermediaries.

Law enforcement officers reacted promptly to the signal. During the investigation, it was possible to identify not only the doctor herself but also her accomplices. In total, the amount of bribes that the defendants tried to receive for fake certificates and disability reached an impressive figure — 5,500 dollars.

Fake diagnosis scheme to evade mobilization uncovered in Odesa region

The situation has received wide resonance, as similar cases undermine trust in the healthcare system and violate the principles of fairness in mobilization. Fictitious registration of diseases not only devalues real diagnoses of those who really need protection and benefits, but also creates a threat to national security.

Currently, the case materials have been transferred to the relevant authorities to make a procedural decision. The investigation continues to work to identify all those involved in the corruption scheme and prevent such abuses in the future.
