May is coming to an end with the characteristic variability of the Ukrainian spring. Instead of the expected pre-summer heat, meteorologists are warning of a cool finish to the month. The weekend days, May 30 and 31, will be marked not so much by warmth as by damp and cool weather, which, according to experts, will become a "beautiful bow" in the farewell to the season.

Temperature Gradient: From Zakarpattia to Kyiv

According to meteorologist Natalka Didenko, daytime temperatures in most regions of the country will drop to +12...+17°C. Such weather will dominate in the central and eastern regions. However, the geography of warmth on these days will be uneven. Western regions will be able to boast more comfortable conditions: there the thermometer columns will rise to +19...+23°C. The absolute leader in terms of warmth will be Zakarpattia, where the air will warm up to +24°C.

The capital, unfortunately, will fall into the zone of more severe conditions. In Kyiv on the weekend, the temperature is expected to be only +12...+14°C. This means that for walks around the city, you will have to wear transitional clothing, not light summer things.

Rainy End of Spring

In addition to the cool, the main companion of the weekend will be precipitation. Periodic rain is expected throughout almost the entire territory of Ukraine. The only exception will be Saturday (May 30) in the west of the country, where the sky will remain clear. Sunday (May 31) promises to be especially cold and damp.

Nevertheless, the meteorologist notes that the lack of warmth is compensated by the aesthetic benefits of nature: blooming acacia and bright greenery, which create the atmosphere of a real May, despite the whims of the weather.

When will real summer return?

The cold end of May is only a temporary phenomenon. Already from June 1, stable warmth will begin to return to Ukraine, and the season will finally enter the summer phase. Thus, the weekend will become the last test before the full-fledged beginning of summer.
