A tragedy that claimed four lives occurred in the center of Kyiv. A Mercedes-Benz, losing control at high speed, crashed directly into an underground pedestrian crossing on Chokolovskyi Boulevard. People were present in the crossing at the time of the accident.

Casualties and Consequences

According to law enforcement authorities, two men, a woman, and a 12-year-old boy were killed as a result of the incident. Three other injured individuals were hospitalized with injuries. Rescue workers were on the scene extracting the driver from the mangled car body.

The person responsible for the accident was identified as a 49-year-old resident of the Kherson region. The man is currently in the hospital. Preliminary data suggests he lost control at high speed.

The investigation revealed that the driver has a serious history of traffic violations. He has been repeatedly held administratively liable for speeding. Furthermore, he has already been involved in four traffic accidents, two of which occurred in the current year.
