The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has officially confirmed strikes on three major objects of Russia's oil and gas infrastructure. The attacks were carried out on June 8 and resulted in extensive damage and fires in the Krasnodar, Saratov, and Volgograd regions.

Strikes on southern and central Russia

According to a statement by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, published by RBK-Ukraine, Ukrainian defense forces continue to inflict systematic losses on the critical fuel, energy, and logistical infrastructure of the aggressor state. The targets were facilities supporting military operations against Ukraine.

The most significant consequences were recorded in three locations:

  • "Grushovaya" Oil Depot (Krasnodar Krai). The facility is located in the Grushovaya Balka area and is part of the "Shesharis" transshipment complex — a key hub for main oil pipelines in southern Russia. Fires in two oil storage tanks have been confirmed here. Additionally, infrastructure responsible for assessing the quality of oil products has been damaged. This complex handles the receipt, storage, and further transportation of oil through the port of Novorossiysk.
  • "Krasnoarmeysk" Oil Pumping Station (Saratov Oblast). According to reconnaissance data, two large tanks are burning at the station. The volume of each damaged tank is 50,000 cubic meters.
  • "Krasny Yar" Linear Production and Dispatch Station (Volgograd Oblast). Military forces recorded a fire in one oil tank with a volume of 50,000 cubic meters.

Context of attacks on the energy sector

These events are a continuation of the systematic campaign by Ukrainian units, including the SBU, to strike Russia's oil and gas capacities. Previously, strikes were recorded on two major oil depots in Crimea, an FSB control point, and other military facilities.

On the same day, reports emerged of a drone attack on the Novokuibyshevsk Oil Refinery in Samara Oblast, where a large-scale fire broke out after a hit. Tuapse, where oil refining and storage capacities are concentrated, is also regularly subjected to strikes. Recently, evacuations of the population in this region have been recorded due to heavy smoke caused by fires at industrial facilities.
