On the night of June 10, Ukrainian defense forces struck the VNIIR-Progress military factory in Cheboksary with FP-5 Flamingo missiles. This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his Telegram channel, confirming the application of "long-range sanctions" against Russian military facilities and the oil industry.
Target of the strike: production of drone and missile components
The VNIIR-Progress factory specializes in the production of satellite GNSS receivers and antennas for Glonass, GPS, and Galileo systems. The enterprise also produces "Comet" type modules used in Shahed kamikaze drones, Iskander-M missiles, and Kalibr cruise missiles. According to Zelenskyy, the attack was aimed at depriving the occupier's army of critically important components.
Explosions in Cheboksary and missile alert declaration
Early in the morning on June 10, at least two explosions were heard in Cheboksary. Columns of smoke rose in the area of one of the production sites. Around 6 a.m., a missile alert was declared in the Chuvash Republic. Local social media pages immediately began publishing reports of explosions, while OSINT channels confirmed that the VNIIR-Progress factory was indeed the target.
Additional strikes on oil refining facilities
On the same night, Ukrainian drones struck the Kuibyshev oil refinery in the Samara region — more than 900 kilometers from the front line. Additionally, the SBU struck two oil infrastructure facilities in the Vladimir region, located 700 kilometers from the border.
Kyiv's reaction: "Thanks to the Ukrainian Armed Forces for their accuracy"
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the precision of the attack and emphasized that such strikes are part of the strategy of applying "long-range sanctions" against key elements of Russia's military and energy infrastructure.
