The Ukrainian food market continues to demonstrate high volatility. Major retail chains — ATB, Silpo, Novus, and Auchan — have updated their price lists for basic products for Tuesday, July 7. The changes affected both the cost of individual items and the assortment of the cheapest offers.

To provide an objective picture, RBK-Ukraine conducted a comparative analysis, selecting exclusively the minimum prices in each category published on the official websites of the retailers. The results show that price dynamics are non-uniform: in some categories, the market has stabilized, while in others, significant spikes have been recorded.

Bread and eggs: stability and assortment changes

In the bakery products category, most chains maintained the pricing policy of Monday, July 6. However, in Auchan, the most budget-friendly offer was replaced. Instead of "Formula of Taste" bread (350 g for 14.50 UAH), the top of the cheapest goods list is now wheat bread (half-loaf) costing 21.30 UAH.

After a sharp drop in prices at the beginning of the week, the egg market reached a plateau on Tuesday, July 7. All major players kept their price tags unchanged. Auchan maintains leadership in the lowest cost per dozen eggs, solidifying its status as the most affordable retailer in this category.

Price gap in cereals and promotion conditions

One of the most noticeable features of the current day is the colossal spread in buckwheat prices. In ATB, Novus, and Auchan chains, a kilogram of cereal is consistently offered in the range of 65–70 hryvnias. Against this background, Silpo's offer looks anomalously low — only 15.69 UAH per kilogram.

It is important to understand the conditions of this promotion: the minimum price in Silpo is available exclusively to holders of the "Vlasny Rachunok" bonus card and users of the mobile application. Without participating in the loyalty program, the cost of buckwheat in this chain will be significantly higher, negating the advantage over competitors.

Dairy products and sunflower oil

The situation in the milk segment is also non-uniform. Price tags for small packages (400–450 g) in ATB and Silpo remained unchanged. Novus offers a promotional price on a one-liter package. In Auchan, however, there was an assortment rotation: instead of "Lukavitsa" milk (900 g for 39.40 UAH), the most budget-friendly option became the store's own brand milk in a smaller volume.

The price dynamics for sunflower oil (0.5 L bottles) turned out to be divergent. The Silpo chain reduced the cost of its cheapest item by 3 hryvnias. The situation in Novus changed differently: the budget salad oil for 49.99 UAH disappeared from the list of leaders, giving way to the "Shhedryi Dar" brand at a higher price. ATB and Auchan maintained stable price tags in this category.
