While Western media often focuses on Iranian drone supplies or North Korean soldier involvement, the true scale of Russia's support lies elsewhere. Former British intelligence agency MI6 director Richard Moore made a clear statement: without China, Russia would already have lost the war against Ukraine.
China as the Foundation of Russia's Military Machine
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Moore debunked the myth that Moscow is holding on solely due to internal resources or assistance from secondary allies. According to him, Beijing is the "silent engine" that allows Russia's military-industrial complex to function at its current level.
The intelligence expert emphasizes: it is precisely Chinese resources, from microelectronics to industrial components, that enable Moscow to hold the front and continue large-scale combat operations. Without this logistical and economic artery, the Russian army would face a critical shortage leading to the collapse of the military campaign.
Global Security and the West's Choice
Moore not only states facts but also paints a strategic picture of the future. He is convinced that Ukraine's victory is not just about the territorial integrity of one country but a key element of global security. If the West wants to effectively counter the growing alliance between Moscow and Beijing, supporting Kyiv must remain an absolute priority.
The words of the former MI6 chief sound like a stern warning: ignoring China's role in this war is a mistake that could cost the world too dearly. As long as Beijing continues to supply the Kremlin, the war will continue, and the price of victory for Ukraine will rise.
