French company Harmattan AI has officially unveiled a new Shahed-like attack drone named IRIFI, boasting a reported operational range of over 2,000 kilometers. This strategic capability allows the system to execute deep-strike missions far behind enemy defense lines, marking a significant development in unmanned aerial technologies.
Design Features and Deployment Tactics
According to the company's press service, the IRIFI system was specifically engineered to target critical infrastructure deep within hostile territory. The drone comes equipped with a containerized mobile launcher. This modular architecture ensures rapid and flexible large-scale field deployment, significantly reducing preparation time before launch.
Autonomy and Artificial Intelligence Capabilities
A core technological advantage of the IRIFI platform is its full autonomy during flight, operating without direct human intervention in the piloting process. The onboard navigation suite is paired with a visual guidance system for the terminal phase of the flight. This enables the drone to navigate efficiently, execute maneuvers, and slip past radar detection systems undetected.
Massed Strikes and the Operator's Role
The system architecture facilitates coordinated, massed saturation strikes—a scale previously difficult to achieve with traditional, high-cost missile arsenals. Supported by an artificial intelligence platform that processes vast amounts of satellite imagery, a single operator can command dozens of autonomous units simultaneously, optimizing mission execution and operational efficiency.
