Amid ongoing hostilities and geopolitical instability, ensuring the country's fuel supply remains one of the most critical issues. However, according to the latest data, the situation is under control: there is currently no fuel deficit in Ukraine, and the market is fully supplied with resources.

This was stated by Ukraine's Minister of Economy, Oleksiy Sobolev, during his appearance at the hour of questions to the government. According to him, import contracts have been signed, logistics chains are functioning, and the civilian sector is receiving the necessary amount of fuel.

Lessons from Past Crises and Current Strategy

The Minister noted that the task of preventing a deficit was a priority even during periods of global tension, specifically during the military crisis in the Strait of Hormuz and the conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran. Thanks to measures taken by the government, Ukraine managed to avoid a fuel collapse during those periods, and these developments are now being applied to stabilize the situation.

Sobolev emphasized that the government is conducting detailed work with regional military administrative offices (RMAOs) and market participants. Daily consultations allow for the development of flexible models for supplying regions with fuel. In particular, scenarios are being discussed to protect gas stations, ensure their operation, or organize fuel delivery "on the move" without accumulating resources on-site, which reduces risks during shelling.

Financial Mechanisms and Security

An important aspect of the work is discussing insurance mechanisms or the creation of a joint fund with the market. This will allow for the compensation of losses or the financing of special support measures in the event of force majeure. However, according to the Minister, some specific measures are not disclosed in live broadcasts so that the enemy does not receive strategically important information.

"We understand how painful this problem is for business and the population. And we are confident that we will be able to get through this with dignity," added Oleksiy Sobolev, noting that the work is being carried out jointly with the Ministry of Energy.

Regional Features and Prices

Local survival mechanisms have already been developed. For example, in the frontline Sumy region, a system for stable fuel supply under shelling conditions was created. The key tool was the simplification of procedures for deploying temporary mobile gas stations, which allows refueling points to be quickly moved to safe zones.

At the same time, large networks are forced to adapt to new realities. The WOG gas station network has introduced a special operating mode in several regions of Ukraine due to the security situation. New rules restricting operations or access came into force on July 1, 2026.

On the eve of the weekend, Ukrainian gas stations fixed fuel prices. Despite stability, the gap between offers from different networks remains huge. This gives drivers a chance to save significantly by comparing the cost of gasoline, diesel, and gas at different sales points.
