Rockstar Games has revealed key details about the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 blockbuster, confirming that the game will be the most ambitious project in the studio's history. Rockstar North co-chair Rob Nelson said that his own playthrough took 80 hours, including the main story line and some side tasks. For comparison: the story of the previous GTA V, together with side quests, took an average of 51.5 hours to complete, while a full 100% completion of the game took almost 90 hours. Thus, in terms of core content volume, the sixth installment noticeably exceeds the fifth.

Technological leap: over 600,000 animations

The technical progress compared to the studio's previous projects has been colossal. GTA VI features over 600,000 animations, which, according to industry publications, is roughly 11 times more than in the "fifth" game. The developers explain this volume by the detailed work on NPC behavior: the world of the state of Leonida is supposed to look as alive and dense as possible. Rockstar representatives directly compared the scale of the detail work to Red Dead Redemption 2, promising the densest map in the studio's history.

Rejection of microtransactions and generative AI

The GTA VI story campaign will not feature real microtransactions or in-game purchases. The developers separately emphasized that generative artificial intelligence was not used at all in creating the game: the world was built by hand, "street by street." At the same time, the traditional system algorithms that have for years been responsible for the behavior of pedestrians, traffic, and police remain in place. Rockstar representatives declined to comment on the future of the GTA Online multiplayer mode, where buying currency with real money has existed for over 10 years.

Trailer, release, and prices

To showcase the world of the state of Leonida and the main characters Jason and Lucia, the developers released an extended gameplay trailer lasting about 27 minutes. The video first debuted on Netflix, after which it was published on YouTube. The game will be released on November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The base edition costs 80 dollars, while the expanded Ultimate Edition with pre-order bonuses — 100 dollars.

Threat of fake "demos" and malware

Against the backdrop of high hype, cybercriminals have become active: a large-scale attack is unfolding online, in which users are offered to download an alleged "demo version" of GTA VI. Under the guise of game files, malware designed to steal passwords from browsers is being distributed. Gamers are strongly advised to wait for the official release and not to download third-party files from unverified sources.
