Fighters from the Timur Special Unit of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine have conducted a successful counter-sabotage operation, during which two groups of professional Russian military personnel were completely neutralized. The operation was the result of meticulous preparation, intelligence gathering, and the use of modern technical surveillance equipment.
Operation Details and Ambush
Ukrainian intelligence officers, utilizing operational data gathered notably from enemy sources, were able to precisely determine the composition of the Russian groups and their movement routes. Based on this intelligence, a professional ambush was set up along the enemy's path. After spotting the enemy special forces, Ukrainian troops delivered a devastating fire strike and completely cleared the area. During the clash, one of the Russian servicemen was captured, while both groups as a whole ceased to exist.
Liquidation of an Elite GRU Unit
According to Ukrainian intelligence, the eliminated and captured soldiers belonged to the 10th Separate Guards Special Purpose Brigade of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. This elite unit has a long combat record: its fighters directly participated in the aggression against Georgia, the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and the Russian military campaign in Syria. The presence of representatives from this brigade in occupied Ukrainian territories was recorded by Ukrainian intelligence as early as 2014–2015.
General Enemy Losses and Context in the Zaporizhzhia Sector
The Main Directorate of Intelligence highlights the overall effectiveness of the Timur Special Unit in this sector of the front. In total, during similar operations in the Zaporizhzhia direction, unit fighters have eliminated 448 Russian servicemen and captured another 85. Simultaneously, Ukrainian intelligence continues to publish analytical data and forecasts regarding the general state of the Russian army's resources and the effectiveness of robotic systems on the battlefield.
