The case of Nazariy Gusakov, the controversial resident of Lviv who collected millions of hryvnias for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), has reached the final stage of the pre-trial investigation. The Prosecutor General, Ruslan Kravchenko, officially confirmed that the suspect has received a new charge: this time, it concerns the legalization (laundering) of property on an especially large scale.

Large-Scale Financial Scheme

Investigators established that Gusakov did not merely collect money but also used a complex financial infrastructure to conceal its origin. According to law enforcement data, the scheme involved the use of cryptocurrency services and hundreds of bank cards. Forensic analysis confirmed that the total volume of financial operations investigated, aimed at legalization, exceeds 162.5 million hryvnias.

During the investigation, new facts of fraud against citizens were uncovered. Gusakov continued to collect donations for expensive medications, even though since the summer of 2024, he had already been receiving the necessary medicine for free under a city support program.

Admission of Guilt and Case Status

At present, the 31-year-old suspect is cooperating with the investigation. He is giving testimony and fully admits his guilt in the crimes charged. The pre-trial investigation regarding the facts of fraud and property legalization has been completed. In the near future, the indictment, after the defense has reviewed it, will be sent to the court.

Ruslan Kravchenko emphasized that the work of law enforcement is not limited to the figure of Gusakov himself. To establish the full route of the charitable funds and identify all possible accomplices, a separate criminal proceeding has been opened.

Search for Accomplices and Wallet Owners

Investigators continue active work to identify the owners of cryptocurrency wallets through which the collected funds passed in transit. Other financial operations that have not yet been included in the announced suspicions but may be related to the case are also being checked.

Recall that Gusakov actively covered his story on social media, receiving support from public figures and the public. He was notified of the suspicion of fraud in July 2025. In March, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv selected a preventive measure for him in the form of night house arrest, obliging him to be at his place of residence from 22:00 to 06:00.
