Friday, May 29, promises to be a real test for the residents of Ukraine. Instead of the expected summer warmth, the country will be covered by a cold front bringing gusty winds and prolonged rains. Meteorologists from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warn: the weather will be capricious and aggressive.
Northern Cold and Windy Elements
The main factor determining the weather on this day will be the active intrusion of an air mass from Northern Europe. It is this that forms a field of low pressure, which will not allow the sun to appear from behind the clouds. The wind will blow predominantly from the northwest, and its speed will become a serious problem for drivers and pedestrians.
During the day, wind gusts in most regions of the Right Bank will reach critical values — from 15 to 20 meters per second. This is not just strong wind, this is a gust capable of tearing off roofs, uprooting trees, and creating dangerous situations on the roads.
Where to Expect Showers?
Atmospheric fronts will bring short-term but intense precipitation to almost all regions of the country. The only exception will be the western regions, where rain is less likely. In other regions, a sharp deterioration in visibility and the formation of puddles on the roads should be expected.
Temperature Drop
The feeling of summer will have to be postponed. Due to the influence of the cold and humid mass, the air temperature will not increase significantly. At night, in some areas, the thermometer columns will drop to +4°C, although in other regions it will be slightly warmer — up to +10°C. During the day, heat is also not expected: the average temperature will be only from +13°C to +18°C.
Situation in Kyiv and Region
The capital of Ukraine will also not remain aside from weather anomalies. In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, cloudy weather with clearings is expected, but the risk of precipitation and gusty wind remains high. Residents of the capital should be prepared for the fact that the usual rhythm of life may be disrupted by the whims of the weather.
Experts remind that such weather conditions require increased caution. Follow forecast updates and avoid being under trees and advertising structures during gusty winds.
