Tuesday, July 9, will be a day of complex and unstable weather for most regions of Ukraine. Instead of the expected summer heat, cool moist air masses are approaching the country, bringing prolonged precipitation and thunderstorm fronts. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing data from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
Storm Warnings and Gusty Winds
The weather situation in the country is characterized by high dynamics. Moist air masses spreading from the west are in an unstable state. This creates conditions for the intensification of convection, especially during the daytime when surface temperatures reach their peak.
Meteorologists warn that dangerous phenomena are possible in certain areas:
- Gusty wind strengthening up to 15–20 m/s;
- Hail;
- Powerful thunderstorms.
The eastern regions and the Dnipropetrovsk region are the most vulnerable in this regard. It is here that the probability of gusts and hail is highest.
Precipitation Map: Where It Will Rain the Heaviest
Rain of varying intensity is expected almost everywhere, however, the nature of precipitation will differ depending on the region. The least rain is forecast at night; the main "blow" will fall during the daytime.
The Left-Bank regions require special attention. Rain is forecast in the Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions, while thunderstorms are expected on the Left Bank. Moderate precipitation is expected in most other regions.
Temperature Regime and Situation in Kyiv
Tuesday will be noticeably cooler than the previous days of the week. During the day, the air temperature will range from 17 to 22 degrees Celsius. The exception is the southern and southeastern regions of the country, where the thermometer may rise to 23–28 degrees.
In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, the weather will be cloudy with clearings. Short-term rains are expected during the day, however, thunderstorm phenomena are not forecast in the capital.
Earlier, meteorologists had already warned that the current week in Ukraine would differ from previous ones with a cooler climate. Residents of the country should be prepared for sudden weather changes and bring umbrellas and raincoats with them.
