Streaming platform HBO Max has officially released a new trailer for the series "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe". The project will be a continuation of the cult franchise "The Big Bang Theory" and will take the viewer into a world of adventure where familiar characters face the multiverse.

Plot: from comics to apocalypse

The main character of the show will be Stuart Bloom, known to viewers as the owner of a comic book store. In the new script, his usual life turns into a catastrophe: by accidentally breaking a device created by Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter, Stuart triggers the beginning of the apocalypse.

To prevent the destruction of the world, the store owner is forced to embark on a dangerous journey through the multiverse. In this difficult quest, he is helped by loyal comrades: girlfriend Denise, geologist Bert, and theoretical physicist Barry Kripke.

As the title of the series suggests, the mission to save the world will not be smooth. The heroes will have to face alternative versions of familiar characters, and their attempts to fix the situation will be full of failures and comic situations.

Production team and cast

Development of the project started back in 2023. The original show creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, as well as Zak Penn, known as the screenwriter of the film "The Avengers", are working on the script.

Joining the cast, in addition to the actor playing Stuart, are Ryan Cartwright, Josh Brener, and Tommy Walker. The musical accompaniment is handled by Emmy and Grammy winner Danny Elfman, who created a recognizable theme for the new series.

Premiere and franchise history

The premiere of "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe" is scheduled for July 23. The first season consists of 10 episodes, which will be released on the platform weekly.

This project will be the fourth in the "The Big Bang Theory" franchise. A reminder of the scale of the series universe:

  • The original series ran for 12 seasons.
  • The prequel "Young Sheldon" ended its run in 2024 after seven seasons.
  • The spin-off "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage" starring Montana Jordan and Emily Osment already has two seasons and has been renewed for a third.

The new series promises to bring fans back to the familiar world of science and humor, but this time — in much more epic and chaotic settings.
