In Ukraine, despite the abnormal heat, power outages are not expected tomorrow during the day. However, power outage schedules will come into effect again in the country in the evening. Energy experts explain this by the difficult situation in the energy market and the specifics of consumption during peak hours.
Why in the evening — and not during the day?
As Vladimir Omelchenko, Director of Energy and Infrastructure Programs at the Razumkov Centre, explained, although Ukrainians most often turn on air conditioners precisely during the day when temperatures reach their peak, this consumption can be covered by the operation of solar power plants.
«Therefore, no major problems (during the day — ed.) are expected. But in the evening — yes», — the expert noted.
Recommendations for the population
Omelchenko advises citizens to shift the active use of electricity, including the operation of air conditioners, to daytime hours — from 10:00 to 16:00. This will help reduce the load on the network in the evening, when solar generation is no longer working, but the demand for electricity remains high.
What is known about tomorrow's outages
Today, emergency power outages have already occurred in several regions of Ukraine. Tomorrow, June 30, «Ukrenergo» forecasts planned outages across the country between 17:00 and 22:00. Restrictions will be introduced for one or half of the consumer queue — not all regions will be affected simultaneously.
The reason for the restrictions is a significant increase in energy consumption due to abnormal heat. Experts also note that in some regions, the situation may be more difficult than the national average.
