On Wednesday, July 1, Ukraine's power grid faced critical load, forcing the regulator to introduce power outage schedules in all regions of the country. Restrictions will affect both industrial enterprises and residential consumers.

Reasons for the resumption of outages

As reported by Ukrenergo, the return of outage schedules was caused by a sharp spike in energy consumption against the backdrop of abnormal heat sweeping the country. The mass activation of air conditioners and climate control equipment increased the load on the grid by at least 25%.

In addition to weather factors, the situation is exacerbated by other reasons:

  • Scheduled maintenance work on key energy facilities;
  • Restoration of infrastructure damaged by Russian shelling;
  • Reduction in electricity imports from abroad.

How to find out the outage schedule

Residents can find up-to-date information on the timing and duration of outages on the official websites or social media pages of regional distribution system operators (oblenergo).

For residents of Kyiv and the Dnipropetrovsk region, special YASNO resources are available: a mobile app, as well as separate websites for the capital and the region.

Recommendations for the population

Energy experts urge citizens to be vigilant and monitor operational messages from local energy companies, as the situation in the power grid may change. To reduce the load on the network, it is recommended to use household appliances reasonably and avoid turning on powerful devices simultaneously.
