On June 7, Ukraine is expected to experience a sharp contrast in weather conditions: thunderstorms, hail, and gusty winds will follow the heat. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine citing data from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
Forecasters predict that moderate rain and thunderstorms will occur across the country, except for the eastern regions. During the day, hail and wind gusts up to 15–20 m/s are possible in certain areas. Particularly intense rainfall is expected in Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, and Kyiv regions.
Hazardous phenomena in Kyiv and the region
A separate warning concerns the capital and the Kyiv region. A yellow danger level (Level I) has been declared here. Throughout the day, heavy rain, thunderstorms, as well as local gusts and hail are forecast. Local residents are advised to exercise caution and monitor forecast updates.
In the morning, fog is possible in some areas of Zakarpattia, which will require increased attention from drivers. The wind will be variable in direction; in the western regions, it will be northwesterly at 3–8 m/s.
Temperature regime
Despite the rain, air temperatures will remain high. During the day, thermometer readings will rise to +24…+29°C. The exception will be the western regions, as well as Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, and Odesa regions, where temperatures will range from +20…+25°C.
As forecasters previously noted, the first week of summer in Ukraine will be warm but with frequent rains. Short-term precipitation with thunderstorms is most likely in the west, north, and Vinnytsia region. Thus, June 7 will become a vivid example of weather instability at the beginning of summer.
