In Khodoriv, Lviv region, local authorities have decided to adapt the work of the city administration to extreme weather conditions. Due to the anomalous heatwave covering the region, the city mayor signed an order introducing a special work regime for city council employees.
New Work Schedule: Regime Change
Starting August 4, 2026, a new schedule comes into force at the Khodoriv City Council and its structural subdivisions. On days when the air temperature exceeds +30 degrees Celsius, the working day for employees is shortened. From 08:00 to 12:00, employees are in the office, and from 12:00 to 17:00, they switch to a remote work format.
This decision helps avoid overheating in non-air-conditioned premises and reduces health risks for personnel during peak heat hours.
Duties and Remuneration
Despite the change in work format, requirements for performing official duties remain the same. Employees are obliged to:
- Respond promptly to phone calls;
- Check email;
- React to incoming letters and citizen requests.
An important condition of the order is the preservation of full wages. Reducing the duration of presence in the office does not entail a reduction in salary, as the volume of work and responsibility remain unchanged.
Context: Temperature Records
The decision by the Khodoriv leadership was a reaction to a massive heatwave that has swept across Ukraine. In particular, the Lviv region fell into a zone of extremely high temperatures. According to meteorologists, daily maximums in various regions of the country have already exceeded historical values, breaking a number of temperature records. Local authorities are forced to seek non-standard solutions to maintain the operability of state institutions under such conditions.
