Emergency power outages have begun in Ukraine due to extreme heat. This is reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing messages from regional energy companies and local authorities.
Emergency power outage schedules are already in effect in several regions of the country. Khmelnytskyoblenergo confirmed that the cause was extreme weather conditions: "Emergency power outages occurred in certain areas of the city and region".
A similar situation is observed in the Rivne region. The Head of the Regional Military Administration, Alexander Koval, stated that the anomalous heat led to an overload of the power grid. According to him, energy workers are operating in an enhanced mode, responding promptly to emerging problems.
Critical load on the grid
Energy workers are already sounding the alarm, warning of critical load on the system. Earlier, RBK-Ukraine reported that the company Yasno indicated: every three additional degrees in Kyiv result in a consumption increase of 100 MW.
The Chairman of the Board of "Ukrenergo", Vitaly Zaychenko, previously did not rule out outages lasting up to five hours during the summer period. However, he clarified that such a situation is possible only if two factors coincide: massive shelling and air temperatures above plus 30 degrees.
Forecast schedules
As of June 30, several regional energy companies published forecast outage schedules for Khmelnytskyi, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, and other regions. Mostly, these are outages for residential consumers lasting about one hour.
